As the muffled sounds of Wendy House & Tracy Dixon versus Veronica Taylor & Bianca Davis reverberate in the background, Coda lumbers through the Rebel Star Arena’s hallowed halls. Crimson blood puddles through the sterile gauze bandages around her upper right arm, while bruises and more minor cuts stretch down her whole body. Now exhausted from her most recent battle with “Psycho” Saoirse Maguire, she stumbles forward and collapses to the tiled floor.
Coda: Is- Is that it?
The camera catches it all as she breathes heavily, struggling to catch her breath while she still talks from the ground.
Coda: When I entered wrestling, everyone told me it would be tough. Even if I made it to the televised stage, there would be those who wished to annihilate me physically and verbally. Yet, nine championship reigns later, I still fight the same opponents with different names and different faces.
With her back flush against the floor, the still calm Pint-Sized Kaiju starts to turn her body to lean on her right elbow. The bandage begins to loosen from the friction, more blood from the wound pooling out.
Coda: I do not want respect from my opponents — I want to be tested!
Her slightly monotone, girlish voice becomes gritty with unpracticed intensity. She doesn’t notice that her bandage is slowly slipping off her arm through all her focus on her words.
Coda: I did not enter this combat sport to be validated! I did not come to Southern Rebellion Wrestling to be treated like a helpless child! Unleash all that potential strength within you, or do not bother fighting me at all!! Quell my thirst for competition!
The American-Korean pushes herself off the floor, one arm extended with her striking black eyes forward towards the camera.
Coda: If I must capture a championship to give you the motivation, so be it.
She falls face-first into the tiled floor, her extended arm too weak from all her previous battles to hold her body weight right now. Flopping to her back, she looks at the camera once again with narrow, lidded, bloodshot eyes.
Coda: It did not inspire Ursula’s opponents to step up, but… I know no other way…
She shuts her eyes, fading into unconsciousness. After a few minutes, her sister Mari Moon rushes to her side, followed by EMTs.
